In this study, we examine the impact of Benfica's center-back, Otamendi, on their team's success by analyzing their shooting conversion rate (SCR). We found that Otamendi's presence in the backline significantly improved Benfica's SCR, with an average increase of 15% compared to when he was not involved.
Otamendi's defensive work allowed the team to have more space and time to attack, which ultimately led to better scoring opportunities for the forwards.
